When looking for a replacement transformer the three main things to look for are – output connector type, voltage output and amperage output. Providing this matches to your original transformer then they would be suitable, we would always recommend where possible to replace the current transformer with the nearest possible match from the same component brand.

Transformer technology has moved on greatly within the last 10 years and older style larger, heavier power supplies with physical transformers inside have been superseded and replaced by much smaller and lighter technology. You can replace your original transformer with the newer versions without the need, in most cases, to replace any other component providing the connector type, voltage output and amperage output match, we would always recommend where possible to replace the current transformer with the nearest possible match from the same component brand.

There are several different specifications of Kaidi component models with the part code referencing the different specifications. The first letters (after the KD) denote the component type for instance H for switches, DY for transformers and PT or JYT for actuators, the following two or three numbers denote the model type for instance PT007, DY008 or H101 and the remaining numbers or letters (for instance PT007-11, DY008B or H101-304) provide specification and variation type. In general, the model type is normally the same design, size, colour and stroke across all components with this model number the variation is normally with the speed, load, cable lengths, number or location of buttons, buttons or cable connector types. In most instances it is possible to use a component with the same initial model number however we would suggest checking the actual specifications and photos for each item to ensure the part is suitable.

In most cases yes! It would always be recommended to have a transformer with a power output of above 2A to provide enough power to operate both recliners at the same time. To connect both recliners you would need to add a splitter cable to the transformer which would give two connector plugs for connecting each individual recliner. We offer various length splitter cables and extension leads should you need them.

Yes! To use a battery instead of a standard permanently powered transformer you would just need to ensure that the output connector from the battery, either two pin or single pin, matches your system. It is also possible to add a splitter cable to power two recliners from a single battery.

There is a wide variation of battery types available and how long they last depends on a number of factors; most crucially the condition of the battery, the size of the battery and what system it is being used on. On average the battery charge expectancy is approx. 50-150 recliner cycles (full open/close) but this can vary, in most cases a battery can be expected to last somewhere between one and three months.

This would depend on the type of input socket on the battery. In most cases the battery is charged by using a standard 29V transformer so if adding a battery to a permanently powered recliner the original transformer can be used. Some batteries are located internally within the recliner and in this case a mounted charging port or visible charging socket is present somewhere on the item, these ports normally require a special battery charge cable to be fitted.

Each manufacturer provides their own advice but in general as the batteries are Li-ion our recommendation to fully charge the battery for 24 hours each time and re-charge when the battery is at approx. 50% as this helps against battery deterioration. Due to the type of battery used they will deteriorate over time providing less output usage time with an average life expectancy of approximately 3-5 years.

Yes, it is entirely possible to change the height of the handle for instance to hide the cable or to make it easily visible. You can use any height of parachute handle provided the exposed cable size matches the original.

Yes, and we would always recommend you do so! The physical size of the handles is exactly same. Unfortunately, the older style rounder handles are not available in metal so this is not possible, but we would always recommend that the oval style handles are always replaced with the metal version.
